Some days my soul feels so raw, a soft kiss away from heaven, a raindrop away from a never-ending deluge, a spark away from burning to cinders, a sigh away from becoming poetry. Just a tiny push to make it fall in an abyss of what, I don’t yet know, for it depends on what first touches my soul.
Today you will put tomatoes and onions and garlic on your grocery list and walk to the shops. Tonight you’ll have a good, hearty soup at your table. Later you’ll bake some warm banana cinnamon cake and let the gentle aroma fill your home. You’ll share these with someone you love. You’ll thank a God you hope hears for the hands that ache but still make the recipes your grandmother left you. You’ll sit in the garden with a friend, watch the sky turn indigo then onyx and the glittering diamond stars come out again. There will still be bad days after this. But you will learn nourishment is made with what you love and you will make better days to take their place.
